I have made no secret of my love of black tie sessions here but let’s be honest it’s not for everyone. Some of my brides like to keep with tradition and don’t want the groom to see the dress before the wedding day. If this sounds like you a bridal session could be what you are looking for. There are many things I love about bridal sessions. Pretty girls in pretty dresses. What’s not to like? The best part for my brides is getting to move in your wedding dress more than to and from the pedestal in the bridal dress shop. You’ll learn if you need a bustle, how to sit, and you get to practice your posture as a few examples. As a bonus you get some amazing images of you that any groom would be happy and able to show off to his friends and co-workers.
Bria and Matt were married just over a week ago which means I can finally share some of my favorites from her bridal session. After having to reschedule due to rain we ended up with a beautifully sunny evening to shoot. It was so fun playing with all the lighting options and creating some gorgeous images of and for a gorgeous girl.
Often when I’m photographing a bride, couple, or family and everything is just working I get a picture or other media that seems to stick to the session. Sometimes it’s a movie scene that plays or a song that I sing over and over in my head as I shoot. (Yes, I do crazy things like assign songs and movie scenes to my sessions.) The ‘theme’ if you will for Bria’s bridals was modern Jane Austen. The red lip Julie used was perfect in bringing a modern style to Bria’s grandmother’s wedding dress. Side note: How awesome is it that Bria wore her grandmother’s wedding dress? I mean really…that’s one of the sweetest things I’ve seen! Keeping with a vintage type vibe we decided to shoot at the Garden Park Ward and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
