“The best way to do something is to do it.” -Amelia Earhart
This is shoot number 2 in my personal series this year. (You can read the story and about our inspiration for the shoots here.) When Rachel sent over her ideas for possible shoots to do this year one was a highly stylized, steampunk looking, female aviator. While I loved the image my thoughts went immediately to Amelia Earhart. I started looking on Pinterest for a bit more inspiration. Soon Rachel and I had a clear idea of what types of images we wanted to create. As always we wanted to help our readers think outside the box just a little. These images hopefully serve as inspiration for seniors thinking about their graduating portraits, or (with a couple tweaks and one major change,) a couple looking for unique engagement ideas.
We were able to work with some wonderful local vendors on this shoot. All the clothing was provided by Q Boutique. They have a charming store with beautiful pieces. Most if not all the lines they carry are local to Salt Lake. With so many wonderful pieces we edited ourselves to two looks. First, something a bit more dressed up. I was in love with this tweed skirt. It didn’t hurt that it had airplanes on it. We shot this portion in and around the hangar. Second, we headed out onto the tarmac. Dressed in skinny jeans and a vest our Amelia was ready to inspect her plane and take off on the next adventure.
