Salt Lake Temple black tie photography | Morgan Leigh Photography
Emily contacted me back in January about shooting her and Scott’s black tie session. Due to circumstances I was unable to photograph their wedding day but Emily knew she wanted beautiful images of her and Scott. A black tie session was the perfect option to get beautiful images the happy couple could display at their wedding reception and in their new home together.
We set the date at our initial meeting in January and true to form Utah Spring weather was unpredictable. It rained most of the day threatening the need to reschedule. Scott and Emily decided to move ahead and pray the rain would hold for us. Prayers were answered and just before we started the clouds parted and we got a bit of sunshine.
I loved that Scott and Emily decided to shoot that day. Because of the rain there was no one on Temple Square (this literally never happens) and all the colors were vibrant and bold. One of my favorite times to shoot is right after a rain storm. Rain does something to the landscape that cannot be copied or created in post-production. While most bride’s don’t want rain on their wedding day I say, if you can roll with it you won’t regret it! Mother Nature is the best artist of us all. The only thing rivaling the beautiful scenery were the happy, loving smiles and looks Scott & Emily gave each other that I was able to capture. Capturing those moments in time makes my heart happy and is one of the ‘why’s’ that keep me coming back for more.
